We don’t have any problem with GCB-TOR
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot
Accra, July 27, Ghanadot -
The Public Relations Officer, (PRO) of the Tema Oil
Refinery, (TOR), Mrs. Aba Lokko,
has refuted the publication by the Daily Guide Newspaper
that it is on a collision course with Ghana Commercial Bank
(GCB), following its decision to divert its account to
another bank, after accumulating a debt of over GH¢900 from
crude oil imports.
According to Daily Guide TOR which is indebted to GCB to the
tune over GH¢600 million (¢6 trillion) in addition to over
GH¢300 million (¢3 trillion) owed by Oil Marketing Companies
(OMCs), has opened an account with Ecobank, instructing the
oil marketers to deposit oil cash
there.
But Mrs. Lokko in an interview on Peace FM
today, said that for fast and effective business
transactions it decided to rather use ECOBANK instead of GCB,
but have not diverted its accounts to that bank.
However, she disclosed that TOR has numerous accounts with
different banks nationwide. As such, it uses its discretion
as to which bank to operate with, at any point in time.
