I have the best credentials to chair NDC-Dr. Kwabena Adjei
Audrey Agyiri-Inkoom, Ghanadot

Accra, Dec 12, Ghanadot - The chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr Kwabena Adjei says he is the best person to chair the party.

Speaking on Joy FM, Dr. Kwabena Adjei said the worth of experience he has garnered in his time as chairman and in many other areas has given him a worth of experience that would enable the party retain power.

“I want to make sure that the party is based on a very firm structure; I want to ensure that there are systems and procedures,” Dr Kwabena Adjei indicated.

“We have to build capacity…we have to let them understand how democracy is all about. [The] Atta Mills government doesn’t believe that our brothers who are in NPP and occupying positions, should be sacked, thrown onto the streets, go hungry…

"We place the humane aspect of things above all things,” he told host of the show Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah".

Contestants for the chairmanship slot of the NDC have been outlining their vision for the ruling party three days to the national congress which kicks off on Friday, 15th January.

Dr Adjei led the party to wrestle power from the NPP after being in opposition for eight years.

The incumbent chairman is being challenged by 68-year-old Architect Dr. Austin Asamoah-Tutu.

Whilst Dr Adjei believes he can best handle the affairs of the NDC, Dr Tutu disagrees.

Dr Asamoah-Tutu, who is a former Volta Regional Secretary under the PNDC, concedes that although the Kwabena Adjei-led administration did a lot to bring the party back to power, it has since been complacent.

According to him, this has created dissatisfaction among party supporters, a situation which could affect their chances in the 2012 elections.
