Ghana Tourist Board will not be re-branded- Julius Debrah
Audrey Agyiri-Inkoom

Accra, Dec 12, Ghanadot - The new management of the Ghana Tourist Board (GTB) has stated that its bid to reposition the board to pursue its mandate more effectively is by no means an attempt to undertake a re-branding.

It comes as following plans towards a paradigm shift in the board’s marketing approach by fully harnessing present-day Electronic-marketing platforms which are more cost-effective and efficient.

The move which is to be implemented this year is said to be geared towards fully exploiting the country’s tourism and hospitality potential for the maximum economic impact.

In respect of this, there were suggestions that the board could be working hand in hand with the Branding Ghana office as two key institutions championing the marketing cause of the country.

The Executive Director of the Ghana Tourist Board (GTB), Julius Debrah told Ghanadot that though this is not completely wrong, the change in their marketing approach is not necessarily geared towards re-branding the board but consolidating the country’s rich tourism potential.

He indicated that Branding Ghana is looking at how it can extract investment from different perspective but the board want to stay authentic and see the authentic stuffs the nation possess.
According to him, Ghana is the only country where one particular chief seated in state has both hands full of gold and jewelries and has to be carried by someone and these are some of the things we have to let the world know.

He advanced his point making reference to the indigenous architectural designs of other African countries.
