Chris Wallace at the debate, a paradigm of journalistic bias

E. Ablorh-Odjidja

October 06, 2020.

Chris Wallace, within the first few minutes of the deliberation, was debating Trump instead of being the moderator. Trump called him out on it.

The questions Chris had for the debaters always went against Trump and never Biden.

To paraphrase a few of the Trump targeted questions:  Do you condemn White Supremacists?  Are you against Global Warming?

And on and on it went for the whole 90 minutes of a debate.  Some called the entire debate raucous.  And I came away with distaste in my mind for Chris Wallace, the journalist.

But Chris Wallace must not share the blame alone.  Almost the entire universe of liberal journalism in America is stocked with people of such pretensions.

Chris Wallace, the Fox News superstar, otherwise a conservative media outlet that sometimes can’t escape the deep establishment grasp will prefer to offer Wallace as a neutral moderator, even though there is no need for Fox to pretend that Wallace is a liberal Democrat.

His father before him, Mike Wallace, was a Democrat. It was Mike who engineered the forged letters, known as “Rathergate,” to claim that George W. Bush went AWOL during the Vietnam era, in the attempt to help John Kerry defeat President Trump in 2004.

With a persistent sly smile, Chris Wallace the moderator attempted to do in the debate between Trump and Biden what his father Mike failed to do to Bush in 2004. And because of his conduct, some came away thinking that Joe Biden was the winner of the debate.

However, there was nothing in the debate that suggested that Biden won any part of the debate, apart from the cuddling he earned from Wallace.  Biden offered nothing of substance on the issues.  And when he was pressured by Trump to answer questions about his son Hunter’s business dealings, Wallace the moderator stumbled in to spare him the ordeal.

For Trump, the questions from Chris were loaded while those for Biden, no matter how obvious or critical were avoided.

Consider the question about White Supremacists, a prior highly dated question and wrongfully presumptuous accusation against Trump, referencing the violence that happened after the Charlottesville, VA protest in 2017.  President Trump had already condemned the violence in absolute terms immediately after and also at a press conference that was held on August 14 of that same year.

The wonder was mostly that Trump had already condemned a similar White Supremacists' question at the Republican primary debate on March 06, 2016, with Chris as the moderator.  Yet, Chris Wallace would bring this question up again in the 2020 debate.

So, for what purpose must we hear Wallace ask the same already answered question, this time in 2020, some three years later, if not to race bait Trump?  The question was not meant to elicit an honest answer.  It was stacked, done on purpose to favor the Democrat talking point that Trump was a racist.

Chris Wallace, the moderator, knew better.  He had heard the answer many times before.  And so had many other journalists after the Charlottesville riots of 2017.  Watch, BBC on August 14, 2017.

On hearing the question again from Chris Wallace, I saw the dishonesty that I knew was already stamped on his face and voice.  The question was undeserved and unfair, like to ask an innocent man, did you beat your wife today?

I saw the same benign face that had deceived many viewers on Fox.  That Chris was a fair, not easy to compromise, competent journalist.  Not me.  I have known for a long time that he was not.  He was a shill for the so-called establishment causes.

Chris, the Democrat, had done his political hit job well.  But in doing so, had not served his profession as a journalist soundly.

For balance, in asking the White Supremacist question of Trump, Chris had the same opportunity to ask Joe Biden whether he also condemned the ANTIFA protesters at the Charlottesville event he had falsely implied was racism for Trump in 2017.

When asked by other reporters why he didn’t bring a question about ANTIFA up, Chris had to lie.  He claimed he hadn’t because the White Supremacist question about Charlottesville was timely.

Put in the context of the time of the debate, there were ANTIFA riots everywhere in America, from Minneapolis to Kenosha.  Street riots in places like Minnesota, Kentucky, Chicago, Oregon, etc. were happening.

Though some of the riots were happening in reaction to police brutality, a lot were for reasons of rampage among the ANTIFA activists.  And none were from the White Supremacists' side.

In this context so close to the debate, the ANTIFA riots were timely.  But Chris couldn’t brace himself to pursue the question; bald face neglect that even a four-year-old would have noticed – like a missing candy.  Chris Wallace didn’t because he wanted to help Biden.

The problem for Chris was that he was not the Tim Russert type we used to see on NBC’s Meet the Press.   And the notice of the ANTIFA riots was available in the media before the debate.

“Rioting is beginning to turn people off to BLM (Black Life Matter) and protests while Biden has no solution,” wrote USA Today.

“Press outlets have generally tried to downplay the violent aspects of the protests, sometimes going to absurd lengths. CNN’s Omar Jimenez reported live from Kenosha in front of burning businesses while a chyron described the scene as “fiery but mostly peaceful protests.”

The narrative “buildings burn at the peaceful protest” is Orwellian doublethink in action.” The article went on to describe the press's reaction to the violent riots in the streets.

The increase in rioting in the streets was promoted by white, young restless leftish hoard called ANTIFA, significantly pro-Democrat-leaning.

The ANTIFA crowd was in action when the murder of George Floyd happened in Minneapolis.  The murder of Floyd was so unjust, but it immediately got used for a definite political end by ANTIFA.  It resulted in deaths and rabid destruction of properties and businesses in inner cities, mostly owned by Blacks.

Blacks suffered most of the deaths and untold business and property casualties.  But at the debate and for the cause of a political end, Chris Wallace simply brushed the riots out of existence because not doing so would have helped Trump.

“Members of the black community called out white Antifa for causing violence in their space. One black woman angrily filmed a white Antifa member spraying Black Lives Matter on a business, telling her that was wrong since black people will get blamed for it.”  Wrote Townhall, June 06, 2020.

Essentially, much of the affected Black community, except for the racial justice crew, the Rev. Sharpton types, were of the same sentiment as this woman.

Chris Wallace, the famed journalist at Fox, could not raise the question of ANTIFA meddling at the debate for Joe Biden to answer.

In the end, major media declared Joe Biden the winner because, they said, he was the coherent one.  Thus, being silent on the issues had now become the most coherent way to engage an opponent in a debate!

But note, the only time Biden had been vocal was to call Trump a liar for bringing up his son, Hunter Biden’s corruption issue.  The issue had appeared in a Senate report some few days before the debate, thus, could be considered timely.

But Biden said it had been debunked.  And Chris went nonchalant.  He didn’t have the nerve to ask Biden to explain what he meant by "debunked."

So, payments to Hunter by China, Moscow, and Ukraine became verboten.  The $3.5 million from the billionaire wife of a Moscow mayor to Hunter Biden, that could have landed any of Trump’s children in jail, was off-script during the debate that Wallace supervised.

Chris Wallace, the moderator, made sure it was all non-issue and thus, stayed "debunked," as though it hadn’t.

Biden, the man who was coherent in the debate, never had to answer critical questions.  Not on Supreme Court appointments, his health plan, or COVID, nor his son’s alleged corruption cases.

There is an enigma here.  In a so-called democracy, the type of which is in America, one must ask how the Presidential Debate Commission managed to find Chris to pose as the moderator/journalist for this debate.

The next debate will be hosted by another Democrat, Steve Scully, a known Trump hater.  Worst a Joe Biden intern who also worked for the late Senator Kennedy.  His history should disqualify him for the debate.  Rather, it has promoted him as a choice moderator.

Of course, being a liberal has its advantages.  You are automatically presumed to be morally superior and of superior gravitas to the likes of President Trump.
