CPP’s campaign moves into higher gear as party starts massive membership drive

Accra, July 7, Ghanadot/GNA - The Convention People’s Party’s (CPP) national campaign moves into higher gear, as the party plans to get its “legendary organization magic” firmly rooted by the middle of September in preparation for a massive national rally to be held on Sunday September 21st, 2008, the birth date of Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

In this regard, the party has set aside the month of July as the national membership drive month, with the Flagbearer Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom who set the agenda rolling by launching the New Voters Campaign at the Accra Polytechnic on July 1, 2008.

A statement issued by the CPP Flag bearer’s campaign team said the Voters Campaign which aims to register thousands of new, undecided and disillusioned voters commenced on July 1st with the registration and issuance of the CPP’s official membership cards to about 1000 young men and women.

Dr. Nduom is expected to promote the New Voters Campaign throughout the country to propel the party to win more than 35% of the presidential votes to be in the runoff and win 100 parliamentary seats.

The statement said Nduom’s National Unity Tour to bring all CPP faithful together would move to Kumasi on Monday July 7, 2008, where all regional and constituency executives and parliamentary aspirants would meet him for deliberations.

Nduom’s Campaign team would return to the Central Region on Tuesday, July 8th for stops in Gomua East and Mfantseman East constituencies. On Wednesday evening July 9th, Dr. Nduom will visit homeless young people including kayayei at the centre of Accra.

The statement said on Friday, July 11th, 2008, Dr. Nduom will participate in the Youth Explosion programme at the Trade Fair Site.

He would then take his campaign to the Tain and Yeji constituencies in Brong Ahafo on July 12th and then move to the three northern regions until the 14th of July.

The camapgin team will be in the Eastern Region (Afram Plains constituencies) on the July 16 - 17 and would move to the Volta Region where durbars would be held in Mafi Kumasi and Sogakope on July 20 and at Juapong on the next day.

The statement said the campaign would for the rest of the month focus on completing the membership drive throughout the country.
It said that throughout the July tour, “Edwumawura”, “Yeresesamu” and “Change You Can Feel in Your Pocket” will be explained and popularised.

Dr. Nduom will also introduce CPP Parliamentary Candidates wherever he goes.
