Do not to be disturbed by loss of power - Akufo Addo

Koforidua Jan. 22, Ghanadot/GNA - Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in last year’s general elections has encouraged supporters not to be disturbed their loss of power, but work harder because “we will surely come back”.

“I myself, am not disturbed that we did not win the elections, because I am confident that come 2012 we shall surely come back to continue the good work we started”.

Nana Addo said this when he addressed hundreds of party supporters at a thanksgiving rally at the Koforidua Jackson’s Park on Wednesday.

He said after touring all the 10 regions to thank the people for voting massively for him and the party, he was convinced that the NPP was solid on the ground and would return to power come 2012.

Nana Addo said Ghanaians should thank the NPP for accepting the results in order not to create any confusion in the country, because Ghanaians could not afford to lose the peace they were enjoying.

He urged party supporters to remain focused, united and work hard for the NPP to return to power in 2012.

A leading member of the party, Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo, expressed worry about what happened in the Volta Region during the elections, when their party agents were beaten and chased out of the polling stations.

He cautioned the Electoral Commission (EC) that come 2012 general election the party would not entertain anything of such nature and that if they are prevented from that region they would also retaliate at their strongholds.

Mr Peter Mac Manu, National Chairman of the party, said what had happened to the party needed a sober reflection and not the blame game since that would not help the party to return to power.

Other speakers at the rally included the General Secretary of the party, Nana Ohene Ntow, Mr Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey, Mr Dan Botwe, MP for Okere, Madam Beatrice Boateng, MP, for New Juaben South.
