Accra, Jan6, Ghanadot - The state protocol, Zoomlion, and other stakeholders have begun frenetic preparations at the Independence Square ahead of Wednesday swearing-in of the president-elect, Professor John Atta Mills.

The exercise involved weeding, cleaning and painting as well as the building of presidential dais.

The declaration of Professor John Evans Atta Mills as the winner of the 2008 elections indeed set the stage for another presidential handover.

Since the return to constitutional rule in 1992, the Independence Square has been used as the venue for the hand-over ceremonies.

Few days after Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan's announcement, Zoomlion and state protocol in collaboration with some stakeholders have began sprucing up the Square for Wednesdayʼs ceremony expected to attract a lot of foreign dignitaries.

In the early hours of the morning when GhanaDot visited the place to ascertain preparations for tomorrowʼs swearing-in, staff of Zoomlion and other stakeholders were busy, clearing, sweeping and painting the entire Independence Square grounds for the big day tomorrow.

They were later joined by workers from the state protocol, who had also begun putting up the presidential dais. Our sortie revealed that there is also going to be a final dress rehearsals for the security and other agencies.

The Accra zonal Supervisor for Zoomlion, Robert Colemen, assured of the company's commitment to addressing environmental sanitation problem in the country. He also appealed for support from the citizenry to ensuring a clean environment.
