No More Power rationing in Accra Metropolis

Accra, June, Ghanadot - The Ghana
Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced that it has
completed the replacement of the faulty 33MVA transformer at
the Achimota Substation in the Accra metropolis with a 66MVA
transformer.
This brings an end to the power rationing programme
announced six weeks ago by the company and Electricity
Company of Ghana (ECG).
In a release issued and signed by the Head of Public
Relations of GRIDCo, Albert Kwesi Quainoo, it indicated that
power was restored to ECG on Sunday, this week, two weeks
ahead of an eight-week power rationing programme for parts
of Accra which commenced on May 6, 2009.
According to the release, with the replacement of the faulty
transformer, GRIDCo has also effectively upgraded the
substation and provided ECG with 33MVA excess power supply
to further distribute to its numerous customers in the Accra
Metropolis.
The GRIDCo applauded the general public for support and
bearing with the company during the recent power outages
resulting from its operations at the Achimota Substation, it
added.
