Kufuor pays tribute to late Gonja king

Accra, Jan 24, Ghanadot - Former President John Agyekum Kufour on Friday January, 22 joined hundreds of people in Damongo to perform the 7th adua of the late King of Gonjaland traditional area, Yagbon-Wura Bawa Doshie I who died on January 1st at the age of 102.

With the exception of Nana Ado Danquah Akufo Addo, NPP’s 2008 Flag bearer, Ex-President J.A Kufour was accompanied to the funeral grounds by some of his former Ministers of State including Messrs John Kwadwo Alan Kyeremanteng, Mr. Asamoah Boateng and Alhaji Boniface Abubakari Sadique among others..

In a tribute to the late Yagbon-Wura Bawa Doshie, the former President remarked that the late Gonja King adopted him as a son who was a struggling politician then in the early 90’s and supported him with great wisdom that made him rule Ghana from 2001 to 2008.

Ex- President Kufour also recounted the tremendous role the late Yagbon-Wura Bawa Doshie played as one of the eminent chiefs who were charged with the responsibility to assist the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to find a lasting solution to the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis that bedeviled Dagbon on March 23 2002.

The former President described the late Gonja King as a unifier and therefore implored the elders of Gonjaland traditional area to a get a worthy successor to continue from where the late Yagbon-Wura Bawa Doshie, King of Gonjaland traditional area left off.
The former President donated 700 Ghana cedis and assorted minerals to the bereaved family.
