DALLAS – Kosmos Energy has encountered gas/condensate in the Tweneboa-3 appraisal well offshore Republic of Ghana. The Deepwater Tanto block well confirms the Greater Tweneboa Area potential, Kosmos says.

Tweneboa-3 has two deviated boreholes to separate areas of the Tweneboa field. The first leg was drilled to calibrate the potential of an area that had a weak seismic response. This leg encountered approximately 9 m (29 ft) of gas/condensate pay. The well was then sidetracked 550 m (1,808 ft) west, targeting an area of strong seismic response. This second leg encountered a gross vertical reservoir interval of approximately 65 m (214 ft), penetrating net gas-condensate pay of 34 m (112 ft) in high-quality stacked reservoir sandstones in two zones.

The Tweneboa-3 well is 12 km (7.5 mi) southeast of the Tweneboa-1 discovery well. The Tweneboa-3 well was drilled by the Deepwater Millennium dynamically positioned drillship to a TD of 3,906 m (12,816 ft) in a water depth of 1,601 me (5,253 ft).

Kosmos holds an 18% interest in the Deepwater Tano block. An affiliate of Tullow Oil operates the block with a 49.95% interest. An affiliate of Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has an 18% interest; Sabre Oil & Gas Holdings Ltd has a 4.05% interest; and Ghana National Petroleum Corp. has a 10% carried interest.

Understanding the Present Political Crisis in Cote d’Ivoire

Commentary, Jan 10, Ghanadot - That Alassane Ouattara won the election in Cote d’Ivoire on November 28, 2010, is acknowledged even by his opponent, Laurent Gbagbo. The problem arose only because the constitutional council subsequently ruled against certain poll counts in Ouattara’s strongholds in the north of the country.
