Accra, July 16, Ghanadot -
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament
(MP) for Bawku Central, Mr. Adamu Daramani-Sakande
has described an Accra High Court as unfair.
According to him, the decision taken by the court to
disqualify him from holding his Parliamentary Seat
was not constitutional. In an interview on Peace FM,
Mr. Daramani revealed that he has instructed his
lawyers to initiate an appeal process against the
verdict which he described as unfair.
An Accra High Court yesterday disqualified the NPP-MP
from holding his seat following a challenge by a
herdsman that he holds dual citizenship.
But Mr. Daramani has dismissed the allegation,
insisting he is indeed qualified. “I don’t hold dual
citizenship and I’m qualified to hold my seat. So my
fans should relax because the seat is mine and I
will take it back.”
The chairman of the NPP, Mr. Mac Manu in a related
development, has disclosed that the Party will do
its best to assist Mr. Daramani appeal against the
High Court ruling and take back his seat.
