Road closures in Accra

Accra, July 10, Ghanadot - The visit of the President of the United States of America has called for a new traffic arrangements and some roads will be blocked from the use of the general public.


The roads to be affected include the Airport by-pass to El-Wak Stadium "T" junction. The Tetteh Quarshie Interchange to Accra, TUC towards National Theater and the Kinbu extension road.


The new arrangements are as follows, the Airport by-pass to El-wak stadium "T" junction will be closed from 7:30 pm today July 10 2009 to 6:30 pm tomorrow July 11,2009.


All traffic on this road will be diverted to the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to the Akuafo Intersection and the main road to the Kotoka International Airport throuth the Liberation road.


Traffic from the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange towards Accra will be diverted towards at the Association International School Traffic light near the Airport onto the Patrice Lumumba road on July,11 2009.


In addition, traffic from KIA will be made to cross the Liberation road at the airport traffic light to link Amilca Cabral road. Motorist will have to use the Kaukudi junction towards Accra.


At 8:20 am tomoorow, all traffic on the Independence avenue will be diverted at the Kinbu road junction onto the Barnes road towards Novotel Hotel, TUC traffic light to Holy Spirit Cathederal junction.


The following road will also be blocked. Alliance Francais road to Opeibea traffic, Obasanjo road to 37 military hospital and Giffard road.


Others are the Switchbach Close junction to Liberation road, Kanda high way will be blocked from the Afrikiko traffic light, the Ako Agjei Interchange will be closed to all traffic and the Jawaharlar Nehru road will be blocked at the Christ the King traffic light.
