Treatment from Mills gov’t is not good - Kufuor

Accra, July 23, Ghanadot - Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has expressed his discontent with the Mills administration over the kind of treatment being meted out to him and members of his party.

“When you look at the situation, it begins to look like there has been a coup d’état. It wasn’t a coup d’état that changed government. People went to ballot and the votes were almost split equally,” he said

In an interview on BBC Network Africa programme on today, Ex-president Kufuor said the government is slandering him to look good in the eyes of the public.

“There is a new government in place; it wants to find its feet. Perhaps they think they must position me in a certain way so the attention of the public will be drawn away from the government of the day.”

According to him, with the ardently contested election that brought the NDC to power, he would have expected more cooperation with the opposition than the approach being adopted now.

Ex-president Kufuor expressed optimism that with time the current administration will come to understand the reality on the ground and will give him the necessary respect he deserves as Ghana’s ex-president.

To him, his selflessness in serving Ghana is something that the current government should not forget, adding that there is more vital and essential developmental problems facing Ghana and this is the time for the Mills government to wake up and address such issues.
