FIRM REBUTTAL TO SNEAKY ARTICLE

It said .... Killed By Col. Odjidja’s Boys

" If the spirit of June 4 can never be chased out of Ghana. The mobilizing force behind it, the dynamic energy of its adherents and the historically proved and tested significance of its impact could help every well meaning and honest government to create a just society in which the welfare of the majority of the people stands supreme – that was J.J. Rawlings addressing a crowd of over 200,000 people on the first Anniversary of June Four Uprising in 1980. Survival in Ghana had not been easy after Rawlings handed over power to Dr. Hilla Limann on 24th September, 1979. Since then, the enemies of all that is progressive in the third world and African governments notably the C.I.A and the British M. 16 who remote controlled Lt. Col. Annor Odjidja who made life very difficult for J.J. Rawlings, the then Chairman of the AFRC who led the June Four Uprising in 1979 and his friends, and all June Four members nationwide through the Ghana Military Intelligence who were tasked to implicate Rawlings, and Capt. (rtd) Kojo Tsikata who once survived a mysterious car accident when his car was crossed by some Military Intelligence operatives. The rest were Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata, Gen. Arnold Quainoo and Corporal Alex Dautey. The C.I.A incited Col. Odyidya through the M.I to implicate all the above mentioned men in a military training camp affair to enable Limann’s PNP government to arrest them, but it failed. Col. Prince Twumasi Ankrah was the one who master minded that ‘’Black Propoganda’’ against Rawlings and the above gentlemen and all June Four members who were to be shot on sight on the orders of Col. Odjidja. Members of the June Four Movement had to create impressions to be able to survive while at the same time eluding the prying eyes of Col. Odjidja’s MI boys spread all over the country Can today’s power hungry members of the UCF create such impressions to survive? The answer is capital NO".

Currently, it has become commonplace (especially in Ghana) for all kinds of people to say all kinds of things and behave in any kind of manner....all with impunity and a smug arrogance. Sadly, the internet lends itself to sneak attacks that might go undiscovered for months.

Perhaps, we all should share some of the blame for this ridiculous state of affairs; for we have been probably too tolerant and possibly too discerning in the face of blatant mediocrity.

So let us today make a modest start by exposing some of the morass. We shall begin by analysing the passage quoted above.

1. What evidence does the writer provide for his assertion that Col. Odjidja was "remote controlled" by the CIA and MI6? None. Does he or anybody have any? In spite of the 30 year lapse since the events described, there has to date been no documented evidence to buttress the writer's assertion.....wikileaks included.

2. Where are the records with respect to this "military training camp affair" and the failed "incitement" of Col. Odjidja "by the CIA", "through the MI". Here we are not even sure which "MI" is referred to; are we talking of MI6 or the Ghana MI?

3. The writer levels a serious criminal charge against Col.Odjidja. He claims without a shred of proof that Col. Odjidja had conspired to shoot citizens of this country on sight. The writer has accused him of planning cold blooded murder!

What is on record for any serious researcher or writer to discover easily for themselves is that Col. Annor Odjidja was a highly decorated professional soldier who was Head of the Ghana MI during the Limann administration.

Under Col. Odjidja's watch, no human rights abuses were committed-there were no disappearances, no extra-judicial killings, no police or military brutality etc.....none.

What is also on record in our current 4th Republican Constitution are the Transitional Provisions that protect and indemnify all those (?revolutionaries) who through acts of omission and commission were responsible for some of the most heinous crimes in our nation's history.

To hide behind these provisions while casting innuendo and accusing others of serious crimes without any proof whatsoever is simply indecent and dishonorable.

To date, there has been no evidence that Col. Odjidja acted outside the framework of the Constitution of the 3rd Republic which he was sworn to uphold, nor did he break any laws; he fulfilled his obligations.

What about others? Can they be held to a similar standard of fidelity?

Perhaps, his family background, will give some insight into his thoroughly professional and exemplary service.

Col. Odjidja, was the scion of an old Krobo family- a family well steeped in the Presbyterian tradition and which to a person has been fully literate in Krobo, Ga and English for over 150years.

Col Odjidja  has passed on and can no longer speak for himself.

Therefore, if indeed the writer does have evidence....real evidence, not Ghanaian style evidence, spoken in shrill voice with atrocious grammar and frantic hand waving, then we need to see it so that we can all update our records.

Otherwise, the writer should obey the biblical injunction about his neighbor.

Now, for my full disclosure......I am a proud member of the Odjidja Family of Bhamiyee House, Korletsom.

I like everything straight, no chaser; and I have no patience for mediocrity.

Posted with the support of the Odjidja family.  Col Odjidja passed ON in MAY 2009 .  The family name "Odjidja" exists. We uphold the good, patriotic, Christian based ideals that the name has stood for from generation to generation. COL. ODJIDJA UPHELD THOSE IDEALS.
