Ike Quartey going back to the ring?
Accra, Ghana July 19, Ghanadot - Sources close
to Ghanadot claim that Ike "Bazooka" Quartey is lin
preparation for a return to the ring. However, he will be
returning as a welterweight
The former Welterweight Champion
of the world is expected to fight in the 147 lb class.
He was last campaigning at a heavier division, the
middleweight, where he lost to Winky Wright.
"“Even though everyone knows
that I beat Forrest, I did have a tough night against Winky."
said Quartey.
Quartey claims he will do well
at the welterweight division, where, according to him, his
offence will be more "explosive" and his defense slicker.
Should Quartey go back to the
Welterweight division, he would be joining an elite team of
boxers in the likes of Mosley and Oscar De La Hoya.
Back in the days when Quartey
fought as a welterweight, he was a delight to watch.
He had jabs that shot out like steam rods.
Our sources claim that moving down
in weight will help Quartye regain his former sparkle.
“I still have the fire and the ability to win,” said Quartey.
For Quartey, it is a matter of
legacy. He will like to leave as a winner.
Quartey is a highly civic minded
individual. He has used some of his fight purseto build
a hospital in his home town, Accra, Ghana.
