Foe Amoaning leads casualty shake up at National Sports
Council

– Moses Foe Amoaning, Chairman of the Ghana Boxing Authority
(GBA) is among a high number of profile personalities who
have been dumped in a major shake-up at the National Sports
Council (NSC).
The former Chairman who has survived several shake-ups has
been swept aside, according to information pieced together
by GNA Sports in Accra on Thursday.
A dependable source at the Ministry of Youth and Sports
named Sammy Captan as replacement for the affable Mr. Foe
Amoaning.
Also swept aside by the latest “Tsunami” is Mr. Benson Tongo
Baba, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).
Mr. Baba has lost his hold as the national Chairman of the
Handball Association (GHA) and will be replaced by Ken
Dzirasah, former Member of Parliament for South Tongu.
Jeff Abeasi, Chairman of the Ghana Tennis Association (GTA)
could not survive the axe despite the Golden Rackets recent
qualification to the Euro-African Zone Two about a month
ago.
When Ghana line-up for hounors at the next World Athletics
Championship in Berlin, Germany in August, it would be
without Sandy Osei-Agyemeng.
The Chairman also swallowed by the reconstitution is to be
replaced by Professor Francis Dodoo, Gold medalist at the
1987 All African Games.
Prof. Dodoo, also a Silver medalist at the 1992 African
Championship is a distinguished Sociologist at the
Pennsylvania University and a known clamourer for changes at
the Ghana Athletic Association (GAA).
When the list is finally released, one name that will miss
the boat is Clifford Aboagye, Chairman of the Ghana
Weightlifting Association (GWA).
Mr. Aboagye, credited for the sustenance of the sport has
come under the microscope from within and his exit according
to information available to GNA Sports will not be missed.
The National Sports Council, according to the information is
expected to release the full list by close of work on
Friday, June 26.
