WBA President assures Ghanaian boxers of title shots

Accra, March 22, GNA – Stanley Christodoulou, President of the World Boxing Association (WBA) in charge of Africa has assured Ghanaian boxers of world title shots in the various weight divisions in the shortest possible time.

Christodoulou who is on a seven day official visit to the Ghana told the GNA Sports that Ghanaian boxers have come of age and deserve to be among the best in the world.

He said he will initiate discussions with other members of the Council to see how best qualified Ghanaian pugilists could be given the opportunity to contest world titles.

Christodoulou added that he would also campaign for Ghana to have a representative on the Pan African Boxing Association.

This will help champion the course of Ghanaian boxers at the regional level, he added.

This is to keep them updated and abreast on the latest trend in the boxing sport as well as the rules and regulations to ensure fairness in coming out with their verdicts.

The President of the WBA will also be the Special Guest at the Golden Jubilee Boxing Bonanza scheduled for the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex in Accra on Friday.
