ASCOD technical
directors meeting get underway in Accra
Accra, March 14, GNA - The African Sports Confederation of
the Disabled (ASCOD) Zone III Technical Directors meeting
got underway in Accra on Wednesday, March 14.
The two-day meeting is meant to deliberate on which of the
15 disciplines, the Disabled will participate in at this
year's All Africa Games slated for Algiers, in July.
About 30 delegates from the eight countries in Zone III are
attending the two-day programme.
The member countries are Nigeria, Liberia, Niger, Burkina
Faso, Togo, Benin, Cote D'Ivoire and hosts nation Ghana.
Brown Ebewele, Secretary General of ASCOD Zone III told the
GNA Sports that the purpose of the meeting is to afford the
member countries an input in determining the 15 disciplines
for the quadrennial games.
He explained that there are about 150 disabled disciplines,
which makes it necessary for members to meet and decide on
the suitable ones before the final ones are selected.
"The actual purpose is to have more than one participant to
compete in every discipline.
The meeting ends on Thursday, March 15.
