Libya demands from visa seekers
relevant passport data in Arabic
Accra, Nov. 28, Ghanadot - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
has informed the public on Wednesday that all visitors
travelling to or entering Libya would be required to present
passport with translations of the relevant Bio-Data and
issuing details in Arabic.
An official statement issued by the Ministry in Accra said
the translated text should appear on a page of the passport
and be duly certified with a seal by a legal translator in
the country of origin.
It said visitors whose passports did not comply with the
above requirements would be refused entry into Libya.
Holders of diplomatic and service passports arriving as
guests of the Libyan government are exempt from this
requirement.
Meanwhile, concerned citizens
for a pan African movement are wondering why Libya, a strong
advocate of Pan Africanism, should impose the Arabic
translation requirement on all and are wondering if
this trend portend the imposition of more things Arabic on
the rest of Africa.
