Addo Kufuor impresses Vetting Committee

Accra, Nov 27, Ghanadot/GNA - Unconfirmed sources close to the Vetting Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) say Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor, one of the Presidential aspirants of the party is one of the contestants who scored the highest points in the process.


The Committee chaired by Professor Adzei Bekoe, Chairman of the Council of State, charged to vet all the aspirants is supposed to conclude its work on Tuesday and submit its report to the National Executive Committee of the Party for onward transmission to the Council of Elders of the NPP for scrutiny and action.


According to the sources members of the Committee were overwhelmed by the calmness, maturity and his contribution to the growth of the Party.


They claimed that Dr Addo Kufuor, former Minister of Defence and Member of Parliament for the Manhyia constituency convinced the Committee and especially the former speaker of Parliament, Mr Peter Ala Adjetey, who had been described as "the tormentor in chief" of the Committee, who showed his appreciation for the qualities exhibited by the former President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA).


The sources said he especially expressed his appreciation for Dr Addo Kufour's delivery, his track record as a former Minister of State, his work in his constituency and the party.


Among other things the Committee grilled the aspirants as to their registration, proof of payment of their dues for the past five years, possession of the voters identity card, educational background with proven documents, parentage in conformity with the country's constitution and other important requirements.
