MTN-Ghana Foundation to focus on
education, health
Accra, Nov. 21, Ghanadot/GNA - Mobile Telecommunication
Network (MTN) Ghana will on Friday outdoor MTN-Ghana
Foundation to independently manage and direct the company's
corporate social responsibility projects countrywide.
The Foundation, which would comprise experts from various
fields of endeavour other than MTN employees, would initiate
policies and implement projects independently of the company
focussing mainly on education and health.
Briefing the media on Wednesday, Ms Mawuena Dumor, Corporate
Service Executive of MTN, said the company would commit one
per cent of its profit after tax annually for the
Foundation's operations.
She said the MTN considered the move as an operational
requirement, which would drive its investments to enhance
socio-economic development, MTN brand in operating areas and
foster strategic partnership through good corporate
citizenship collaboration with other sectors.
"As a registered separate legal entity, the Foundation with
an autonomous Board of Directors would consider
interventions which would be of national interest and be
sustainable."
The Foundation, she said, would be launched simultaneously
in Accra, Sunyani and Tamale.
She said MTN, formerly Areeba Network, had in 10 years
injected 20 million dollars into the Ghanaian economy
through its corporate social responsibilities.
