Bawumia says he will not be a
tribally based vice President
Yendi (N/R), Aug. 28, Ghanadot/GNA - Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,
running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential
aspirant, has said he would not be a tribally based vice
president but would represent the interest of all Ghanaians
irrespective of their political and ethnic background if the
party retains power.
He has therefore called on all Ghanaians, particularly
northerners, to rally behind him and the NPP to win the
December election for the party to continue to offer good
governance to the citizenry.
Dr Bawumia said this when he paid a courtesy call on the
Kampakuya Na, Regent of Dagbon, Na Abdulai Yakubu Andani and
his elders in Yendi as part of his 7-day tour of the three
northern regions to present himself to the people as the
running-mate to the NPP flag bearer.
He said Ghana was one with a common unity of purpose and
stressed the need for all Ghanaians to preach peace and
embrace love as a symbol of unity to ensure that the
December election is violent free.
He said Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the NPP presidential
aspirant, had the interest of the youth and Muslim
communities at heart hence nominating him to represent their
interest fully and he would not disappoint Ghanaians if the
NPP was given the nod in December.
Mr. Yaw Osafo Maafo, a member of Dr Bawumia’s campaign team,
described the 45-year old banker as a very brilliant person
who could help transform Ghana’s economy and appealed to
regent and his elders to give him and the NPP their blessing
to win the election.
The Kampakuya-Na, Na Abdulai Yakubu Andani, wished Dr
Bawumia and the NPP well in their bid to retain power and
advised them to conduct a clean campaign devoid of insult to
ensure that the December poll is violent free.
Dr Bawumia paid similar calls on the Bolina Mahamadu Abdulai
at Yendi and the Yagbonwura Bawa Doshie in Damongo.
