Tarkwa-Sefwi road to be reconstructed next February
Diaso(C/R), Aug. 28, Ghanadot/GNA - The
former Trade Minister, Mr Alan Kyeremanten on Thursday said
the Tarkwa-Sefwi road that links the Western to the Central
Region, would soon be awarded on contract for work to begin
by next February.
The road which is in a deplorable state when constructed
would help boost the economic activities of the area since
it carts most of the country’s foodstuffs, timber as well as
bauxite.
Mr Kyeremanten announced this at a rally at Diaso, a mining
town in the Upper Denkyira West district of the Central
Region, as part of a week-long visit by Nana Addo Danquah
Akuffo-Addo and his campaign team to the region.
He told the people that the NPP government would continue to
see to their welfare and it was in that direction that
bauxite, which is mined in the area, would soon be processed
into alumina for aluminium production to start in the
country, for it to derive its full benefits.
Mr Kyeremanten said the Bui Dam was being constructed at a
cost of 600 million dollars, to help facilitate the boom of
the industrial sector in the country, for job creation as
well as socio-economic development.
Mr Kyeremanten urged all supporters to close their ranks,
join in the campaign, and win more people into their fold
for the party to win the December polls.
For his part Nana Akuffo-Addo re-affirmed his commitment to
develop the country into an industrial hub, adding, when
given the mandate, he would build a factory of industry in
every district capital.
He said the country’s oil money would not be for their
individual pockets but for the development of the whole
nation, stressing that, his administration would be
transparent and open.
Some of the communities toured in the district included Mtom,
Boase and Ayanfuri.
Nana Addo-Danquah also addressed a large crowd of party
supporters at Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Upper Denkyira East
District.
