Financial institutions mourn slain
Roko Frimpong
Accra, Aug. 2, Ghanadot/GNA - Hundreds of mourners from
various financial institutions, some in tears, on Thursday
besieged the Head Office of the GCB in Accra to mourn the
Deputy Managing Director (Operations) of the GCB, Mr Roko
Kwasi Frimpong, who was gunned down at his residence at Tema
on June 28, this year.
The mourners clad in black with red bands filed past the
mortal remains of Mr Frimpong at a brief ceremony at the GCB
Headquarters before the body was conveyed to Nwamasi,
Kumasi, for burial and other funeral rites on Saturday,
August 4.
Mr. Poku Kyei, Special Aide to the Minister of Finance and
Economic Planning, represented the Minister, Mr. Kwadwo
Baah-Wiredu. He signed a book of condolence in memory of Mr.
Frimpong.
The Board Chairman of GCB, Mr. K.G. Osei-Bonsu; the Managing
Director, Mr. Lawrence N. Adu-Mante; Deputy Managing
Director (Finance), Mr. Martin Mensah; the General Manager,
Human Resource Division, Mr Edward Kwapong; the widow, Mrs
Millicent Aku Frimpong and her children and other top
management staff of the bank were present at the ceremony.
The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Paul Acquah and his
two Deputies, Dr M. Bawumia and Mr. Van Lare Dosoo, the
Member of Parliament for Okaikoi North in Accra, Mrs
Elizabeth Sackey, the General Secretary of the Ghana
Journalists Association (GJA), Mr Bright Kwame Blewu,
corporate institutions, individuals and staff of GCB also
signed the book of condolence.
A Reverend Minister of the Methodist Church, Dansoman
Circuit, Reverend Isaac Hammond, officiated.
Police have said they have made significant progress in
investigations into the murder.
