Scouts from United Kingdom and Hohoe begin work on training complex

Hohoe, July 30, Ghanadot/GNA - A 50-member delegation of the United Kingdom Scouts, in collaboration with Hohoe Youth Scout, started the construction of a multi-purpose training complex at Hohoe estimated to cost GHc 220,000.

It would comprise a conference hall, an Internet café, office and store.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency Mr George Devine, Head of UK-Africa Scout and leader of the delegation, said the facility would serve as a one-stop complex for capacity building and empowerment for community members and scouts on disaster management, first aid and bushfire management.

He said the complex was aimed at promoting scouting activities in Ghana and is being funded with the help of the UK Scout fraternity.
A delegation led by Ms Jo Busby, Expedition Officer of UK Scout, presented medical items worth GHc 3,000 to the Hohoe Municipal Hospital. The items include syringe, optical glasses, sterilizers, needles, and books.

She said Ve-Dafor Zion, Saint Francis Junior High School, Holy Rosary Junior High School and the Hohoe Municipal Assembly would be presented with six computers each to deep relations between scouts and the community.

Mrs Rejoice Kreponi, Administrator of the hospital, thanked UK Scouts for the donation.
