Court remands four murder suspects in
custody
Kumasi, July 31, Ghanadot/GNA - A Kumasi High Court on
Monday remanded four suspects in custody for their alleged
roles in the murder of Nana Badu Boakye Dankwa II, chief of
Achiase-Mim.
The pleas of the four - Nana Akwasi Addae, Kwaku Owusu,
Kwaku Boakye Senior and Akua Bema - were not taken and they
will reappear before the court on October 22.
The police are looking for a fifth suspect, Kwaku Boakye
Junior, who is on the run.
Prosecuting, Mr Emmanuel Otoo-Boison, Assistant State
Attorney in Kumasi, told the court, presided over by Justice
Adu Ampomah, that the suspects, who were members of the
royal family and were opposed to the installation of the
deceased chief.
He said the accused conspired to eliminate the deceased in
order to accomplish their opposition to his installation.
He said on December 12, last year, the suspects carried out
their motive by shooting to death, Nana Boakye Dankwa, while
he was taking his bath in his house, shortly after returning
from a trip to Tema.
Mr Otoo-Boison said after the shooting, the suspects
attempted to escape but they were arrested and after
interrogation, they confessed to the police of their
involvement in the murder.
He said the police were yet to retrieve the gun, which was
used to kill the chief.
