NDC
to wage relentless war against armed robbers
Nkoranza (B/A), July 28, Ghanadot/GNA – Mr. John Dramani
Mahama, running mate of Prof. John Evans A. Mills, has
stated that the government of the NDC would wage a
relentless war against armed robbers to guarantee the peace
and freedom of the people.
Mr. Mahama was addressing NDC supporters at a rally at the
Nkoranza lorry station during his campaign tour of
Brong-Ahafo.
He said it was just unfortunate that in spite of the growth
of the police population, armed robbers have been succeeding
in harassing travellers on the roads and also robbing their
valuables causing them to live in fear all the time.
He therefore said if they should be voted into power, they
would inject discipline into the Ghana Police Service in
order to address the issue of high crime in society.
Mr. Mahama also said the NDC government would consider the
plight of teachers and arrange better remuneration towards
their welfare and encourage them to contribute their quota
towards the building of a better state for posterity.
He urged the electorate of Nkoranza to vote massively for
the party during the upcoming general elections so that the
NDC would emerge victorious in order for the party to
address the economic challenges facing the people.
He explained that the change of the NDC government in 2000
was necessitated by the fact that the party had stayed so
long in power and therefore people, especially the youth
were fed up with the party and had fallen for the numerous
campaign promises of the NPP so they voted the NPP into
power.
The running mate, however, said because the youth have not
seen any improvement in their lives and were facing
hardships, they were going to vote for the NDC.
Mr. Mahama recalled the past era of the former President J.J
Rawlings and the NDC government and said the extension of
electricity power to Brong Ahafo, Northern, Upper West and
Upper East Regions should remind the people of the good
works of the NDC and bring them back to power.
“Should NDC government come to power we would ensure the
continuity of development programmes initiated by the NPP as
such projects are for the benefits of the state and that we
would also not be selective in dealing with people who would
flout the laws of the state”, Mr. Mahama added.
He later introduced the two aspiring members of parliament
for the area,
Mr Kwadjo Adjei Dwomoh for Nkornza North and Mr. Emmanuel
Kwadjo Agyekum of Nkoranza South to the people and asked
them to vote for them to win the seats for the NDC.
Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketsiah, General Secretary, NDC, said
changes in the governments makes the people to enjoy good
governance and that the eight years period of the government
of the New Patriotic Party and the period of the National
Democratic Congress have been a lesson for the people to
decide the next government in December.
He called on the NDC members not to allow themselves to be
deceived by the leaders of the NPP and said they have
nothing better for the state anymore and asked them to vote
against them in the December elections.
Mr. Osei Agyemang, Brong-Ahafo RegionaL Chairman of the NDC
advised the youth who have attained 18 years to register
when the voters register is opened on 31st July so that they
would be able to exercise their franchise during the
elections.
He pleaded with the people to vote massively for the party
to win the two parliamentary seats for Nkoranza.
