Create a congenial atmosphere for
the private sector to operate
Maakro (Ash), July 23, Ghanadot/GNA– Mr Oheneba Amponsah
Agyemang, Director of the Resource Management Support Centre
at the Forestry Commission (FC), has stressed the need for
government to create an enabling environment for the private
sector to operate successfully.
He said with such an environment, the private sector would
be able to create many job avenues and also enhance
productivity, towards the development of the nation’s
economy as the private sector has been described as the
engine of growth.
Oheneba Agyemang was commissioning the Dinkyene Food
Processing Mills at Maakro near Abuakwa in the
Atwima-Nwabiagya District in Ashanti.
The Mill, which cost over 12,000 Ghana cedis, has the
capacity to process cassava and maize among other things.
He said there was a need for entrepreneurs to be given the
required training in management and proper record keeping,
to enable them operate efficiently since most of such
businesses folded up due to poor management.
Oheneba Agyemang called on employers to create a cordial
working relationship with their staff, leaving all
communication lines open to enhance productivity.
Mr Owusu Yeboah, Managing Director of the Mills, said he
decided to establish that business to process food to reduce
post-harvest losses, which was a problem in the country
especially in the rural areas, where they have no processing
and storage facilities.
