GPRTU chairman advises drivers to
ensure defensive driving
Essiama (W/R), July 22, Ghanadot/GNA— Drivers have been
advised to ensure defensive driving to prevent accidents and
the lost of lives and properties.
Mr. Daniel Kwasi Asmah, Essiama Branch Chairman of the Ghana
Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) of Trade Union Congress
(TUC), gave the advice in an interview with Ghana News
Agency at Essiama, in the Western Region.
He said the inability of drivers to boldly correct the
mistakes of their colleagues is a contributing factor to the
rampant accidents on the road.
Mr. Asmah expressed concern about the increasing lost of
people through lorry accidents and described the situation
as unacceptable.
He urged drivers to exercise restraint when driving and
always think of their life and those of the passengers
first.
The Chairman commended drivers in Nzema area for maintaining
a high sense of professionalism resulting in no accident in
the area, since the past seven months.
Mr. Asmah appealed to them to avoid over-speeding, wrong
over-taking and over loading that had been identified as
some of major causes of road accidents.
