Four persons committed to stand trial
for murder
Brofoyeduru (Ash), July 21, Ghanadot/GNA - The Brofoyeduru
district court on Friday committed four persons suspected to
be involved in the murder of Nana Badu Boakye Dankwa 11,
chief of Achiase Mim, to stand trial for murder at a high
court in Kumasi.
The pleas of the suspects Nana Akwasi Addae, Kwaku Owusu,
Kwaku Boakye and Akua Bema, were not taken and they were
remanded to appear before a high court in Kumasi on July 24.
They were alleged to have been involved in the murder of
Nana Dankwa on December 12, 2006 at Achiase Mim in the
Atwima-Nwabiagya district of Ashanti.
The fifth suspect, Kwaku Boakye Jnr, is on the run.
State prosecutor at the Attorney General's Department in
Kumasi, Mr Otu Boison, told the court that the suspects, who
had constituted themselves into a faction in a chieftaincy
dispute in the town, conspired to eliminate the chief.
He said they shot and killed the chief when he was having
his bath in the house.
Mr Boison said the suspects confessed their involvement in
the murder to the police.
He said the police had not retrieved the double-barrel gun
used in murder since it was with Kwaku Boakye Jnr.
