Sergeant Dawson’s
remains flown-in
Accra, July 19, Ghanadot/GNA - The body of Sergeant Stanley
Hope Dawson, an officer of the Ghana Police Service, who
died in Darfur, Sudan, while on peacekeeping duties, was
flown home on Friday.
At the airport to receive Sergeant Dawson’s remains were
senior Police officers and members of his family.
Speaking to reporters at the airport, Commissioner of Police
Paul Quaye, in charge of Strategic Planning, described
Sergeant Dawson as an exemplary officer.
He said Sergeant Dawson had served the Police Service for 10
years and that he held a great promise in his career.
Sergeant Dawson, 39, died alongside other peacekeepers when
they were attacked by insurgents in the troubled Darfur
region.
He was married with three children.
