The Northern Presbytery
gets modern ICT centre in Tamale
Tamale, July 19, Ghandot/GNA – The Right Reverend Dr Yaw
Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, on
Saturday inaugurated a 71,000-Euro Information Communication
Technology (ICT) centre in Tamale built by the Northern
Presbytery.
The centre has 30 computers, 20 of which are connected to
the Internet, and the remaining 10 would be used to teach
students and to provide desktop publishing facilities.
Right Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso said development partners
continued to help the church in areas of education,
agriculture and other social services that had helped change
the lives of people and communities.
He said the project was not going to benefit Presbyterians
alone but also other sister church members and the public.
He said the world would always remain a global village and
that the only way to catch up with the rest of the world was
to develop ICT and offer training to the youth.
The Reverend Kwasi Addai-Naami, Presbytery Chairperson, said
the Global Ministries of the Protestant Church in the
Netherlands contributed enormously towards the completion of
the centre by supporting it with an initial 15,000 Euros
after which the others came in with the rest of the money.
He said plans were far advanced to commence the phase II of
the centre which would link up the facility to the
Presbyterian pastoral and Development and Social Services
Centre to complete the project’s networking process.
