Ghana will triumph in unity – Akufo–Addo
Zorko (U/E), July 17, Ghanadot/GNA – Nana Addo Dankwa
Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential
candidate, on Thursday said Ghana will triumph in its
political and socio-economic endeavours, if its people
remained united in friendship and brotherliness.
He said a united nation would drive away bickering,
unnecessary tension and acrimony adding “If we work our
energies and our resources we can get to where we want to
get to.”
Nana Akufo-Addo said this during his four-day campaign tour
of the Upper East Region to canvas for votes in the
forthcoming December 7, 2008 presidential and parliamentary
elections.
He addressed a number of rallies in the Bolgatanga
Municipality, where he inaugurated a nine-member executive
of the NASARA Club, a Zongo Wing of the NPP, visited Zorko,
Namoo and Bongo as well as Tongo, Pelungu, Sakoti, Nangodi
and Zanlerigu in the Talensi-Nabdam Constituency.
At Bolgatanga, Nana Akufop-Addo first visited the Bolgatanga
General Hospital and the Nurses Training College where he
interacted with the staffs and students of the hospital and
encouraged them to work hard to ensure that the National
Health Insurance Scheme was effectively implemented.
Students of the training college gave Nana Akufo-Addo
rousing welcome amidst dancing the famous “Kangaroo dance”
and chanting “Nanoo Nana”.
The staff of the college shared their problems including in
adequate facilities, which had discouraged many tutors from
accepting postings to the school.
Nana Akufo-Addo pledged to assist the college address the
issue with support from Government and added that when voted
into power he would not forget to support the hospital as
well.
At Zorko, 45 sympathizers of the National Democratic
Congress, (NDC) publicly announced their defection from the
NDC to the NPP.
Led by one Mr Asima Aleo, the defectors said they
appreciated the NPP government’s efforts and concern for the
District saying, the NPP’s development projects in the area
in just seven and a half years was overwhelming.
The chief of Zorko Kanborongo, Naba Adongo, expressed
appreciation to the NPP government for the development
projects it has brought to the area and said they now
understood Government’s good intentions and would vote
massively for the party to continue its good work in the
area.
He told the people of Bongo that, the party was conscious of
their commitment to the NDC and asked them to measure the
development the NPP had brought to them.
Nana Akufo-Addo said the NPP government places premium on
education and would, therefore, ensured that it was
developed to the highest in the area.
He promised to establish a secondary school in the area,
adding that he could only do that when the people of Bongo
and its environs voted massively for the party.
He therefore appealed to the electorates in Bongo to change
their voting pattern and test the NPP to also see in true
terms what the party could add to what the people are
already enjoying.
He said Ghanaians had rejected the NDC for good and so it
was not coming back to power any more and so they should
vote massively for the NPP.
Nana Akufo-Addo also called on the Tongo Rana, Sabolgo
Namalteng, at his residence before addressing a large
following of party supporters where he formerly introduced
the parliamentary candidate for the Talensi Constituency, Mr
Sabastian Tibil Bisnab to the people.
