Let us partner Government to provide infrastructure - Rev.
Otuo Acheampong
Nyinahin-Ashanti, July 15, GNA - Reverend Otuo Acheampong,
Chairman of Asante Presbytery of Presbyterian Church of
Ghana (PCG) has appealed to churches to complement
Government's efforts in the provision of adequate
development projects in deprived communities.
He said churches could allocate some resources to provide
potable water, good roads, employable skills training and
other basic amenities to the under-privileged in rural
communities to improve their living standards.
Rev. Acheampong made the call when inaugurating a 27,000
Ghana cedi (270 million cedi) mansion for the Nyinahin
District Minister of the church at Nyinahin in the
Atwima-Mponua District.
The project financed by the Church consists of an
administrative block.
He noted that the Government's desire to attain a
middle-income status by 2015 would not materialise when the
private sector failed to play a meaningful and strategic
role in realizing Government's vision.
Rev. Acheampong urged ministers of the church to eschew
arrogance, power struggle and over-indulgence in materialism
in order not to bring the clergy into disrepute, adding
"Clergymen should be disciplined and strive to lead holy
lives for the growth of Christianity."
Rev. Rexford Kwabena Brefo, Nyinahin District Minister of
the church commended the church for the gesture and was
optimistic it would facilitate administrative work.
