UK High Commission confirm
arrests and waiting for their families
Samuel Dowouna, Ghanadot, ACCRA
July 14 - Gary Nicholls, Head Press and Public
Affairs at the British High Commission has confirmed that
the Two British teenagers arrested with cocaine at the
Kotoka International Airport have been moved from the
Juvenile Unit of the Police CID to the Narcotic Control
Board (NCB). He said they had been arrested and are under
good care.
Ghanadot contacts with him revealed that the girls will be
put before court on Wednesday July 18, 2007.
Mr Nicholls argued that it is not the place of the High
Commission to disclose any private information about the
girls and their contact with family, so he could not say
whether their families have visited or not.
With regards to the search for the people whose names the
girls mentioned, Kwame, Emmanuel and Jay, Nicholls says it
is in the purview of the Ghanaian security apparatus to hunt
them down. NCB and Ghana Police has not given any
indications yet as to whether they have mounted a search for
those persons.
The Ghana Police was taken aback following the arrest, even
though they said they were aware that people were using new
methods, they could not believe that younger people were
been used.
