Fraudster, jailed three years reappears in court.

Tema, July 11, GNA - A thirty-two-year old self styled Managing Director of a non-existing company in Tema has appeared before the Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ two weeks after he had been sentenced to three years imprisonment by the Tema Circuit Court ‘A’ for engaging in fraudulent activities.

John Christian Fiano who pleaded not guilty to 12 counts of fraud by false pretence was remanded by the court presided over by Mrs Amanda Aikins.

Enoch Kwame Boateng, aged 32, an accomplice of Fiano also pleaded not guilty to the charge of abetment of crime and was equally remanded to reappear in court on July 21.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Ben Agbedanu told the court that Fiano who resides in Tema, posted notices of employment on walls in Accra and Tema, seeking to recruit people for Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GPHA), Nestle Ghana Limited, PZ Company and other reputable companies in the metropolis.
He said Fiano then employed Boateng who resides at Ashaiman, to assist him renting a room at Tema Community one site 16, where they operated a company by name Rogital Agency Company.

Chief Inspector Agbedanu said Fiano and Boateng who claimed they were the Managing Director and Personnel Manager respectively of the said company collected between GH˘25 and GH˘30 each from more than 100 unsuspected applicants as registration fees.

The court was told that after collecting the money together with application letters and curriculum vitaes, Boateng conducted an interview, failed all the applicants and asked them to reapply.

Prosecution said 31 applicants informed the police of the nefarious activities of the accused persons on June 12, leading to their arrest and the retrieval of 62 filled application forms and passport size photographs.

He added that 12 complainants also reported the fraud to the police after Fiano’s three years sentence.
