Man fined for posing as BVI operative
Kadjebi, July 5, Ghanadot/GNA- A
magistrate’s court in Kadjebi on Friday imposed a fined of
300 Ghana cedis on Emmanuel Kpoti, 32, unemployed, for
posing as an operative of the Bureau of National
Investigation (BNI).
He was also bonded to be of good behaviour for 12 months or
serve six months in hard labour in prison in default.
He pleaded guilty to pretending to be a public officer.
Detective Chief Inspector of Police Gabriel Kaledzi told the
court presided over by Mrs Stans Amanoipo, that Kpoti was
arrested by the police at Kadjebi where he introduced
himself to a police officer as an operative of BNI on
special assignment at Kadjebi.
He said Kpoti could not produce any identity to back his
claim when the police requested him to identify himself.
Kpoti explained that he was under the influence of alcohol
at the time of the crime and promised to change his
behaviour.
