We have contingency measures in Place - Bank of
Ghana
Accra, July 2, Ghanadot/GNA – Bank of Ghana (BoG) has put in
place contingency arrangements to ensure that its operations
are not disrupted by the sit-down strike embarked on by
section of the staff, a spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Staff of the BoG embarked on strike on Wednesday in
solidarity with two of their dismissed colleagues, Mr
Benjamin Duffuor, Chairman and Mr Frank Mensah, Secretary,
respectively, of the Bank’s Senior Staff Association.
Ms Esi Hammond, Public Relations Manager of the BOG, told
the Ghana News Agency that the Bank’s paramount interest was
to avert any possible downturn that the strike could have on
transactions at the Bank.
She said as an essential service provider any disruption in
operations would have negative consequences for the
financial services sector and the economy as a whole.
“It is in this direction that BoG is doing all within its
power in order not to bring hardships on the people,” she
added.
