Zongo Communities Urged to Shun NDC Propaganda

Konongo (Ash), July 2, Ghanadot/GNA- Mr George Frimpong, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante Akim-North, has urged Zongo communities to reject smear political campaigns,, being pursued by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to discredit the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

He said the NDC’s efforts at sowing a seed of antagonism between the Zongo communities and the NPP government over the years had been fruitless, as government continued to develop Zongo communities.

Mr Frimpong, who was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Asante Akim-North Nasara Club at Konongo during the weekend, entreated Zongo communities to vehemently resist NDC’s peddling of falsehood.

He noted that such practices were subtle ways of brainwashing the people in order to win votes and urged them to shun such propaganda, aimed at returning the NDC to power.

The MCE observed that the NPP government was not discriminatory and would continue to equitably spread development projects across the country, stressing that, Zongo communities would not be left out.

He implored the leadership of the club, to embark on campaigns devoid of insults and violence, saying, the NPP believed in the rule of law.

Nana Adu Asabre, NPP Constituency Chairman, urged the leadership of the club not to lord over its members but provide efficient leadership required to win votes for the party.

He said the task ahead was enormous and required hard work, dedication and commitment to clinch a third successive victory, adding that the club’s role would be crucial.

Mr Francis Bright Appiadu, Constituency Organizer called for unity in the party, after a scathing primary resulted in division among members of the party.

He said it was about time the various factions in the party united for a common purpose and urged the members not to tolerate a breakaway independent candidate, Mr Alexander Osei-Tutu, whom he said was not a true member of the party.
