Ashanti CPP unhappy about NPP/NDC pronouncements

Kumasi, April 3, Ghanadot/GNA – The Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has expressed concern about the beating of war drums by the NDC and NPP ahead of the 2008 general election.

It said the current agitations and negative pronouncements on the outcome of the elections showed how confused, insensitive and irresponsible the two parties were, with regard to the outcome of the elections.

A statement issued in Kumasi on Wednesday and signed by Mr Akwasi Bosompem Boateng, Regional Secretary, the CPP said the antagonistic posture by the two parties on the election indicated their resolve to protect their parochial political interest to the detriment of the poor suffering masses.

The statement said Ghanaians needed a government that brought peace, unity, stability and economic progress to the people and there was no doubt that the CPP, which had now been accepted by the people as the only credible party, would rely on its mandate to alleviate the plight of the people.

It said the CPP believed in the advancement of the country through the effective mobilization and use of the resourcefulness of the people, especially the youth and would therefore create the needed platform and opportunities for young people to release their potentials in economics, politics and leadership.

It said the CPP would re-activate state enterprises and explore new resources and industries.

The statement stressed the need for Ghanaians to rally behind Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, the flag bearer of the party to propagate the rejuvenated ideals of the CPP in order to win the 2008 election and transform them into reality.
