Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly endorses Chief Executive
Tarkwa(W/R), March 28, Ghanadot/GNA - Mr George Mireku Duker,
was on Thursday unanimously endorsed as Chief Executive for
Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly by the 37-member assembly
at its maiden sitting at Tarkwa.
The election was supervised by Mr Yaw Opoku, Tarkwa–Nsuaem
Municipal Electoral Officer.
Mr John Ajet-Nasam, Tarkwa Circuit Court Judge administered
the Oath of Allegiance, Secrecy and Office.
Three other government appointed members were also sworn-in,
they were Mr Patrick Paintsil, Headmaster of University of
Mines and Technology (UMaT) Junior High School, Mr Ben
Assabil, a staff of Goldfields Tarkwa Mines and Mr Ben
Kessie, a businessman.
Mr Anthony Evans Amoah, Western Regional Minister urged the
assembly members, chiefs, Heads of Departments and other
stakeholders to give Mr Duker the needed support to work
efficiently and effectively.
He expressed appreciation to the assembly for the able
manner the election was conducted and urged them to ensure a
peaceful election in December.
Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Minister for Tourism and
Diaspora Relations said their action had demonstrated unity
in the assembly.
He said government’s decentralization programme was on
course and power had been entrusted in the assemblies to
facilitate development at the grassroots.
Mr Duker expressed appreciation to the assembly for the
confidence reposed in him and called for unity among
members.
