Jake heads NPP Elections 2008 campaign team

Accra, March 13, Ghanadot/GNA – The two-term campaign manager of President John Agyekum Kufuor (Elections 2000 and 2004) Mr. Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey was
on Thursday named to lead a 23-member campaign team for the ruling New Patriotic Party.


Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku was named as the Campaign Director; Mr Roland Saka Deputy in- Charge of the Northern Sector and Ms Sophia Horner-Sam Deputy in charge of the Southern sector.


Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, NPP Flag bearer for Elections 2008 announced the team at his premier press conference since the December 2007 Special National Delegates Congress which elected him.


Apart from the large contingent of journalists who provided coverage at the NPP headquarters, the Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, NPP Members of Parliament, Ministers of State, Presidential Spokesman, Mr Andrew Awuni, National and Regional Executives of the party also attended.


The 23-member campaign team includes most of the personalities who contested the NPP Flag bearership race in December 2007 and lost to Nana Akufo-Addo during the party’s Special National Delegates Congress.


The members are: eight Chairpersons of Specialized Committees of the party namely: Mr Dan Botwe in-Charge of Electoral Affairs; Dr Arthur Kennedy in-Charge of Communications; Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, for Fund Raising; Mr Alan Kyeremanten for Identifiable Groups; Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor for Security and Mr Felix Owusu-Adjepong in-charge of Traditional Affairs.


The rest are: Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo and Ms Mawusi Awitty, Hajia Rukia Ahmed; Dr Owusu Afriyie-Akoto in-charge of Manifesto; Mr Victor Newman in-charge of Research; Mr Peter Mac Manu, National Chairman; Nana Ohene Ntow; General Secretary.
Others are: the national organizer; the national women’s organizer; the national youth organizer.


Mr Mac-Manu heads the Campaign Advisory Board, which includes; Nana Akufo-Addo; Mr A. K. Deku, Acting Chairman of NPP Council of Elders; Mr Kwadwo Mpiani, Minister for Presidential Affairs; Nana Ohene Ntow, General Secretary; Mrs Agnes Okudzeto and Alhaji Abdul Rahman Musa; National Vice Chairpersons.


According to the NPP Flag bearer, the mandate of the Elections 2008 Campaign Team would work in conjunction with the regional, constituency and polling station executives of the party to pursue the all important agenda of total victory.


“Let me emphasise that all party members and activists are important parts of our efforts…as we know well our victories have come from the efforts of many unsung heroes.


“We need the energy of every party member and dare I say, patriotic Ghanaians to ensure we retain in office the only party with a viable project for this country’s development in freedom and her people’s prosperity,” Nana Akufo Addo stated.
