Muslim leader calls for better organization of Hajj
Accra, March 8, Ghanadot/GNA - A Muslim leader on Saturday
called on fellow Muslims to work together to address the
Hajj crisis and to prove to the world that they could
engaged in healthy and honest consultation.
Major (rtd.) Mohammed Easah, President of Coalition of
Muslims Organization, Ghana, who made the call, appealed to
all Muslims at all levels to avoid personal hatred,
self-interest and anti-personal malice.
He said: "...Rather let us join hands to address this bane
of hajj crisis, in a spirit of sincerity, honesty and above
all the fear of the almighty Allah."
Major Easah said these when addressed the second National
Hajj Conference in Accra on the theme: "Hajj, a challenge to
leadership, probity and accountability in the Muslim
Community."
He said the unsuspecting defenceless Muslims in the cities,
towns and villages looked up to them as leaders for
protection, justice and guidance adding, "We should not fail
in our responsibilities towards them, especially in the
context of their performance of Hajj."
Major Easah said the Hajj crisis had now become an annual
ordeal, during which fellow Muslims were made to suffer
hardships, humiliations and other forms of indignities,
which should not be so.
He said, the Hajj issue was no longer a subject exclusive to
the Muslim community in Ghana, instead it has now become a
national concern, widely discussed and analysed in the
media, because of the negative impact of its poor
management.
Major Easah urged Muslims, especially those in leadership
positions to wake up from their slumber and rise to the
occasion to address the perennial Hajj issue once and for
all.
This year's national Hajj Conference was aimed at providing
a platform for accredited representatives and individuals
from Muslim communities countrywide to engage in open
dialogue take collective decisions and arrive at a consensus
on the management of the Hajj in a healthy spirit of
consultation.
