Suspected armed robbers attack district director of health

Kade (E/R), March 6, Ghanadot/GNA - The Police have intensified their search for three suspected armed robbers who attacked the Kwaebibirem District Director of Health Service, Dr. Patrick Amo-Mensah, at his residence last weekend.

According to Mr Desmond Boampong, Akwatia District Police Commander, the robbers rode in a red Opel Astra saloon car at the time of the attack.

He appealed to the public to assist the police with any information that would help arrest them.

He said the robbers hit Dr Amo-Mensah’s head many times with a stick causing serious injuries to it and his right eye after which they left him in a pool of blood.

The victim was rushed to the St. Dominic’s Hospital at Akwatia and was later referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

The District Police Commander said the robbers gagged the watchman at Dr Amo-Mensah’s residence. They also tied his hands and legs before breaking the front door with blocks to enter the house.

The watchman was also taken to hospital as a result of severe beatings he received from the robbers leading to the loss of his teeth.
