Students caution the war mongers amongst us

Sunyani (B/A), Jan. 15, Ghanadot/GNA- The Sunyani Polytechnic branch of the Tertiary Education Students’ Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party, has called on political parties, particularly the National Democratic Congress(NDC) to refrain from using words that had the tendency of threatening the security of the State.

The group appealed to Ghanaians, especially the youth to be patriotic enough to guard and protect the country’s fledgling democracy.

The call was contained in a press statement signed by Emmanuel Tweneboah Koduah, President of the group.

It said; “The recent press conference by the flag bearer of the NDC to put in the minds of Ghanaians that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has put in place mechanisms to rig the December 2008 Election should be condemned by all well-meaning Ghanaians, because Ghana is supreme and bigger than all political organizations.”

It said; “The Ghanaian youth is wide awake and will resist any move that would destabilize the security of the state”, adding, “the days when the youth were used to the advantage by political parties and some selfish individuals are over.”

The statement said the youth and for that matter students must rise up and educate Ghanaians about the need to protect our democracy and the country.

It said; “Students should beware of politicians who invade our campuses to sell their wild and negative propaganda in an effort to pursue their own political agenda for their selfish interests.”

The statement urged all Ghanaians and political parties to denounce violence as a means of solving economic, social or political problems.

It said; “We must cultivate the culture of dialogue and non-violent approach throughout our campaigns and beyond since peace is prerequisite for unity and development of the country”.
