A 500,000 Ghana Cedi Multi-purpose ICT Company inaugurated in Kumasi

Kumasi, Jan. 12, Ghanadot/GNA- The Reverend Edward Agyenfrah, a lecturer at the Christian Service College in Kumasi at the weekend inaugurated a 500,000 Ghana cedi (5 billion cedis) Smart Multi-Media Company, a multi-purpose Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Centre at Amakom in Kumasi.

The occasion was also used to launch the Company’s new energy drink labelled “Smart”.

Rev. Agyenfrah commended the management for investing huge sums of money in the communication industry and advised them to provide excellent services to the customers to win their confidence and trust.

Mrs. Belinda Serwaa Addo, the Ashanti Regional Director of Education affirmed the immense complementary role of the private sector towards ICT education in the country and said the Ghana Education Service (GES) has incorporated ICT education in various spheres of its machinery and education.

Mr. Fred Quainoo, Chief Executive Officer of the Company noted that ICT has become a major driving force and a tool for promoting development, combating poverty and facilitating the integration of developing countries into the global economy.

The government’s Millennium Development Goals (MDG), he observed, was a powerful methodological and political framework for using ICT to achieve sustainable economic and social growth.

He, however, regretted that, despite the laudable efforts and initiatives of the MDG, a large proportion of the population has not benefited from the new technology.

Mr. Quainoo stated that, it was the aim of the Company to engineer and accord ICT a high priority for further development of the country through the strengthening of all sectors of the economy and eventually build a knowledgeable society.
He explained that, Smart-Multi-Media Company runs an ultra-modern Internet Café, Web Design, Graphic Designs, ICT Training School, Travel and Tour Operations, Dialup and dedicated Internet Access.

The Chief Executive Officer disclosed that the Company offers free Internet browsing to school children during weekends as part of its social responsibility.
Mr. Faisal Addai, General Manager of the Company said the Café accommodates over 70 clients with the widest and fastest V-Sat and Radio Connectivity.
