Uphold the good name of Ghana during Ghana 2008

Mankessim (C/R), Jan 9, Ghanadot/GNA - The Central Regional Manager of the Ghana Tourist Board (GTB), Mr Paul Owusu Nkansah, has called on Ghanaians who will come into contact with visitors during the Ghana 2008 football tournament to portray a good image of the country to them.

"This is the time the much talked about Ghanaian hospitality will be put to test, and we must live up to expectation," he said.
Mr Nkansah was speaking at a workshop for food vendors, drinking spot and chop bar keepers at Mankessim.

It was organized in collaboration with Cook Art, Ghana, a non-governmental organization that trains traditional or indigenous caterers to attain high standard.

Customers' reception, personal appearance, packaging food for sale, environmental cleanliness and improved service delivery were some of the topics treated at the workshop.

Miss Dinah Adu-Owusu, Principal Resource Officer of GTB, cautioned the participants against thinking about the money they would make more than the quality of service to be rendered to their clients.

Mr Atsu Klugah, Project Coordinator of Cook Art, described the workshop as timely because GTB'S focus had been on hotels and restaurants forgetting that promotion of a country's image depended on the informal sector of the hospitality industry such the participants at the workshop.

Mr Patrick Saah-Mensah, Environmental Health Officer in charge of Mankessim, took the participants through how to keep their premises and surroundings clean at all times.
