Rural Bank supports scholarship benefits

Kuntanse (Ash), Jan. 9, Ghanadot/GNA- The Bosomtwe Rural Bank at Kuntanase has since 1998 supported about 40 children of its shareholders to the tune of GH¢25,000 in scholarships to continue their education.

Mr Kwabena Antwi, Acting Administrative Manager of the bank, who made this known, said beneficiaries who are day students in Senior High Schools were each given GH¢30 per term while those in boarding houses were given between GH¢110 to GH¢250 per term depending on the schools they attend.

He was speaking over the weekend when he presented 100 bags of cement to the Integrated Community Centre for Employable Skills (ICCES) at Tetrefu in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District to support the construction of an electrical workshop for the centre.

Mr Antwi explained that the support was part of the bank's social responsibility to enhance the development of education in the country as well as easing the burden on their parents.

The Administrative Manager indicated that the bank has also been supporting communities in its catchment's area with roofing sheets, cement and other building materials when necessary to develop the communities.

He said the bank last year donated two hundred Ghana cedis towards the celebration of the "Opemsuo" festival of the chiefs and people of Kokofu and also donated similar package to the SOS children village at Asiakwa in the Eastern Region to support the home.

Mr Daniel Amo, the Centre Manager, who received the cement commended the bank for the gesture and pledged to use it judiciously to enhance teaching and learning at the centre.
