Yabonwura is dead

Accra, Dec 5, Ghanadot - Reports reaching Ghanadot from Northern Region of Ghana indicated that the Paramount Chief of the Gonja Traditional Area Yabonwura Bawa Doshei is dead. He was 102 years old. He died at Damongo in the early hours of Saturday after a protracted illness.

Bawa Doshei, before his death, was the President of the Northern Regional House of Chiefs and one of the three eminent Chiefs mediating in the Dagbon crisis.

Yabonwura Doshei was vocal in the call for a split of the Northern Region to facilitate the region’s development. According to the acting President of the Gonja Traditional Council Senyouwura Seidu Bi-Ngeanye, the funeral arrangements would be made known in due course.
