New soccer academy launched

Accra, Nov 21, GNA - A new soccer academy, Global Boot Academy was launched in Accra with the aim of unearthing and increasing the nation’s talent soccer base.

The academy, which has embarked on a nation-wide talent hunt campaign, dubbed “Soccer Scout” is expected to last for the next six months.

Nii Odartey Lamptey, a member of the 1992, 94 and 96 squad of the Black Stars who launched the talent hunt exercise in Accra, said the abundance of soccer talents in the country is an indication of a bright future for Ghana, hence the need to embrace the idea to develop and groom the youth to excel.

At least 1000 players will be recruited nation-wide before a final screening exercise will be conducted to select 100 players to commence the Academy.

Nii Lamptey added that his association with the Academy for the past months is an indication that they are determined to help groom talents for the benefit of the nation, adding that the venture will further be enhanced by their association with some Swedish clubs.

Darling Nana Kwesi, Chief Executive of the Academy said his outfit is well equipped to execute the task of exploring for more talents for the nation.

He said the talent-hunt will be conducted by experienced players and six Ghanaian coaches with supervision from consultants from Sweden.

The Chief Executive revealed that they have acquired a plot of land at Dodowa for the construction of a hostel facility for the players.
Darling Nana Kwesi said he was optimistic of the success of the project.
